Malleck kicked off his day by setting a facility and meet record in the men’s mile with a time of 3:58.11. This was the first time an athlete went sub-four in the men’s mile at the Patriot League Indoor Championships, and the second straight year Malleck has won the mile. His winning time marked the fourth time he’s gone under four minutes in the mile in 2025.
Malleck has run under four minutes in every mile he’s raced so far this year. His personal best came two weeks ago at Boston University, where he broke his school record with a time of 3:53.80, catapulting him up the NCAA rankings, which will now earn him a ticket to the NCAA Indoor Championships in Virginia Beach, Va., in two weeks.
Later in the day, Malleck returned to the track to earn another victory in the men’s 3,000m, breaking away from the pack in the final two laps to win with a time of 8:03.75. Malleck led his school in points, earning a bronze medal for Boston University’s track and field program at the championships.

The sixth-year middle-distance runner is in his last year of eligibility at Boston University and has aspirations of running professionally and competing for Canada when he’s done.
