Permobil has introduced new rigid and folding aluminum-framed manual wheelchairs — the TiLite Z and TiLite X — to replace its popular Aero Z and Aero X models. Both chairs aim to offer low weight, durability and adjustability in a package likely to be approved by most insurance providers.

Wicked is one of the most beloved musicals of our time, but many disabled actors have long been bothered by the fact that they have been left out of the casting for a wheelchair-using character. While Nessarose uses a wheelchair in the Tony-Award-winning musical, eventually she can walk when her sister Elphaba casts a spell on her shoes. Now, in the major motion picture adaptation of Wicked premiering this Friday, Marissa Bode becomes the first wheelchair user to play Nessarose.
Daruma Isn’t Your Typical Disability Film
A new movie executive-produced by Oscar winner Peter Farrelly bills itself as “the first film in U.S. cinematic history to star two authentically cast disabled leads in a narrative not about overcoming disability.” Daruma tells the story of Patrick, a wheelchair user who enlists the help of his cantankerous neighbor Robert, a double-arm amputee, to transport the 4-year-old daughter he never knew he had, to live with her maternal grandparents on the other side of the country.
