  • Salmon. We love salmon fillets for this recipe, you can use skin on or skinless. And likewise you can use Sockeye Salmon or Atlantic.
  • Maple Syrup. Use quality  grade maple syrup because you’ll evidently taste it in your dish.
  • Soy Sauce. The saltiness and wonderful contrast to maple syrup, with a load of umami.
  • Salt and Pepper. While there’s enough saltiness from the soy sauce, depending on your taste you may need to add some more.
  • Mustard. Great emulsifier and flavor to the marinade.
  • Garlic. To flavor the salmon and marinade.
  • Olive Oil. For rounding up the marinade and adding some extra juiciness to the salmon.

  1. In a bowl, mix in all the glaze ingredients. Whisk well until dissolved and blended. Your glaze is now ready. 

Glaze and Bake the Salmon

  1. To marinade or glaze the salmon, you’ll arrange the salmon fillets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. You’ll need only half of the marinade for now to glaze and marinade the salmon. Reserve the remaining half in the same bowl.

  3. Massage the maple glaze evenly over the salmon fillets top and bottom.

  4. Bake the salmon until cooked through and golden.

Finish the Salmon with More Glaze

  1. Now you’re going to remove the salmon on to a serving platter. 
  2. Take the remaining half of the maple glaze and pour it straight over the hot and cooked fish.

  3. The salmon will absorb that maple glaze right off as it’s so hot and the fish pores are open.
  4. And you’re maple salmon is ready! Garnish with lemon slices, some fresh dill and chopped chives on top.

  1. Use quality maple syrup for this recipe as you will be tasting it in the dish. 
  2. Choose the type of salmon that you like whether it’s sockeye or Atlantic. Also chose skin on or skinless according to your preference.
  3. When making the maple glaze, make sure to keep half of it aside. So avoid contaminating it with the raw salmon. It’s best to pour half the glaze directly over the salmon and keeping the rest clean.
  4. Parchment paper or foil makes for easy clean up, so line your baking sheets.
  5. Keep an eye on the salmon, you don’t want to over cook it.

When the fish has cooled down entirely, store it in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.

You can reheat that in an Air Fryer at 350 degrees F for 3 minutes, keeping the glaze aside. Drizzle the glaze on top when it’s warm. Likewise you can reheat it in an oven at 375 degrees F for 8-10 minutes. And finally, you can microwave the dish.

To Freeze this dish, place it an a sealed ziploc bag and keep it int he freezer for up to 3 months. To reheat, simply thaw first and follow reheating instructions above.

We have baked the salmon at 400 degrees F for 15-18 minutes. You can likewise broil the salmon if you want a charred top and in that case it takes 7-8 minutes only.

We have also tried this recipe using this Pan Seared Salmon by cooking the salmon with the glaze on both sides for 4 minutes. Covering the pan, and adding the remaining glaze once cooked. It comes out just as delicious!

How Long to cook the salmon?

Like most fish recipes, overcooking the salmon will dry it out, so aim to undercook it. We aim for an internal temperature of 145 degrees F. If you don’t have a thermometer, test it wit a fork. The fish should easily flake using a fork, and that’s when it’s ready.

Can I make this recipe without the marinade?

There’s noit time required for marinating here, the longer it sits the better. However you can just slather the salmon in half the glaze and bake it right away. And continue by glazing it once it’s out of the oven and you’re ready. 

Can I substitute Maple Syrup?

Since this is frankly heavily based on the maple syrup, I would encourage you to make this Honey Glazed Salmon instead. It’s a luscious salmon recipe made with a Hot Honey glaze that’s SO GOOD! You can also substitute honey in this recipe. 

What can I use other than salmon?

You can make this recipe using a firm fish like Mahi MahiHalibut or Cod. If using chicken, we love chicken thighs for this recipe.

Maple Glaze

  • 1/3
    cup
    Maple Syrup
  • 1/4
    cup
