The world record in the indoor mile belonged to Olympic bronze medallist Yared Nuguse for a mere five days. On Thursday, at the Indoor Meeting Lievin in Lievin, France, Norwegian star Jakob Ingebrigtsen clocked 3:45.14 to smash Nuguse’s time by nearly 1.5 seconds, adding a fifth world record to his resume. And to top it off, his 3:29.63 split at 1,500m broke his own 1,500m indoor world record from 2022.
